Thank you Siri Ved kaur ji. This was my first Solstice too and it was very memorable. I had started doing kundalini Yoga just 2 years prior.
I came to that Medicino Solstice from San Diego and the COSMIC FLOW ASHRAM. There is a photo somewhere of all of us in bright colored clothes where as others were wearing white. The ladies from the ashram set up a teepee on the hillside as there was no level ground available for tents. There were no bathrooms either. We did our duty in the woods. In addition to the wrestling similar to the Punjabi sport KABADI...
Dr. Mishra came and we did fire walking bare feet over hot coals. Also there was a marriage dance where people made a circle and went around and chose a partner. Siri Singh Sahib ji engaged me to Marty Silverman (Sat Simran's brother). That lasted for about an hour or so.
John and Ana Kohne owned this land in Mendocino as well as land in Encinitas, California south of LA. This property was near the Self Realization Fellowship. Ram Das Singh used to take us to to visit John Jr
and his wife. They had goats which they would milk and then churn into the best ice cream on this earth. After Rocco's Pizza this was divine.

hi,
What is kundalini Yoga,

How do you practice kundalini yoga?

If I am not wrong, for enlightenment Yoga and Sikhism (Gurbani) are two poles apart.

Please elaborate,

Thanks!

I was a college classmate of Ranbir's in 1974 at Mt. San Antonio College. He met my father also... It must have been in his rebellious era...

Wah Guru! I was married at summer solstice '72. What an amazing ride it has been in 3ho! In the fall of '72 I was off with my bride, Jhot Niranjan Kaur to Nebraska to start an ashram for the next 10 years!

My mataji has often mentioned the Mendocino solstice to me. I'm really happy to see the pictures from there. It always seemed like something I couldn't picture, something so magical, that only happened in the times before I was born (when everybody was still a hippie :-)
Of course when I grew up and realized the power of Kundalini yoga, I felt the magic myself.

Hah!

That's me - standing behind behind Baba Singh in the badly tied turban and the red Indian shirt. Now I see why I didn't save any pictures of myself from those days! My biggest memory from that time was travelling to perfomr at the local county fair in Booneville with Guru Singh, Black Krishna, Jean-Paul & the other LA musicians. The locals loved it.

I believe that's Anna Koehne on horseback with the Siri Singh Sahib in one of the photos. I'd love to hear her comments, and also stories. I know she and John were so connected with SSSji.

Sat Nam Siri Ved Kaur,
Thanks for these photos. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law got married at this Solstice also. Their name at the time was Gurudarshan Singh and Gurudarshan Kaur, and I recently saw their photos of their wedding. I think they lived in the Pomona ashram for some time, and they also lived in a hollowed out tree trunk on some land that John and Ana Koehne owned in northern California, who were also for some time students of the Siri Singh Sahib. I will ask them to check out this blog and see if they would like to add more information about this Solstice.

Blessings,
Darshan Kaur
