Expiration Date
Jan 28th, 2007 by Siri Ved Kaur
I wrote this poem in June 2005, after a visit with Sat Dharam Kaur, who was spending her final days at home with her family. A few days later she passed away. We will probably have more writings on Sat Dharam Kaur and other beloved souls who have touched our lives and gone.
Oxygen wheezes and hums
finding a way into your crowded lungs
one journey done
and another begun…
Aching bones define your silhouette
as you eke life from each breath
and the road you’ve walked, the years you’ve lived
are as a dream, far away;
moving toward the empyrean
with verdant paths aborning.
